Discovering Your God-Given Gifts for Your Business

Have you ever wondered what your thing is — that one talent, idea, or passion God might want you to use in this season?

Maybe you’ve been praying for clarity, scrolling through business ideas, or watching others chase their dreams and thinking, “I want to do something meaningful too… but I don’t know where to start.”

Here’s some good news — discovering your gifts doesn’t have to be complicated. God has already placed them inside you. Sometimes it just takes slowing down long enough to notice what’s already there.

My Story: A Lifetime of Curiosity and Creativity

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a spark for business.

Back in primary school, I was that kid who loved selling cute stationery to my classmates. I’d buy my favourites from a little shop near my home and resell them at school — not just for the pocket money (though that part was definitely exciting!), but because I loved curating a collection I knew my friends would enjoy. Looking back, I realize I’ve always had that instinct for spotting what people might like and the joy of sharing it with them.

That same spark never really went away.

Years later, while working full-time in the jewellery industry, I found myself setting up — you guessed it — another little stationery shop on Etsy as a side hustle. It was my creative outlet, my space to explore ideas that made me happy after long days at work.

And over the years, that curiosity just kept growing. I’ve explored crochet, surface design, digital art, and so much more. I eventually realized that I’m multi-passionate by nature. My challenge was never that I didn’t know what to start — it was that I had too many ideas I wanted to try!

For a long time, I saw that as a problem. I thought I needed to pick just one thing to focus on. But over time, I began to see it differently. My love for creating, experimenting, and learning wasn’t confusion — it was part of how God made me. He wired me to be curious, creative, and full of possibilities.

And maybe that’s true for you too.

Your Gifts Are Already Within You

The Bible reminds us that we’re each created uniquely — with different gifts, strengths, and personalities. Those things you naturally love doing? The skills that come easily to you? They’re not random. They’re signs of how God designed you.

Sometimes, we expect our “calling” to look grand or spiritual, but often, it’s found in the everyday things that bring you joy and come naturally:

  • Maybe you love organizing spaces and bringing order out of chaos.

  • Maybe you find peace in creating beautiful things with your hands.

  • Maybe you love encouraging people through words or design.

Each of those things can be a gift — and each one can be used to bless others in practical, meaningful ways.

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others…
— 1 Peter 4:10

Simple Ways to Discover Your Gifts

You don’t need to overthink or over-pray this (I say that lovingly!). Discovery happens through doing.

Here are a few gentle ways to uncover your God-given gifts:

  1. Pray for clarity.
Ask God to show you what brings life and joy. Sometimes, peace and excitement are quiet clues of where He’s leading you.

  2. Reflect on what comes naturally.
What do people often thank you for? What feels easy or fun for you, but hard for others?

  3. Notice patterns.
Look back on your life — what themes keep showing up? (For me, it was creativity and sharing.)

  4. Try things.
You don’t discover your gifts by sitting still. Experiment, take small steps, and see what fits.

  5. Ask others.
Sometimes friends and family can spot strengths you overlook in yourself.

Remember, this is a journey. You don’t have to find your “one true calling” today. God reveals things in seasons — each step builds on the last.

Using Your Gifts in Business

When you begin to see your gifts clearly, business becomes less about chasing success and more about stewarding what you’ve been given.

Maybe your gift for design could turn into a line of encouraging prints.
Maybe your love for creating cozy spaces could inspire a home décor business.
Maybe your words could uplift other women who need to hear they’re not alone.

Your business doesn’t have to be big or flashy. It can be something small, intentional, and rooted in serving others.

If you’re multi-passionate like me, that’s okay too. God can use every part of your creativity. You don’t have to choose just one thing forever — you can start where you are, learn as you go, and let Him guide you along the way.

You Already Have What You Need

If you’re reading this wondering where to begin, here’s a little reminder:
You don’t have to wait for a perfect plan or a lightning-bolt revelation. God often works through what’s already in your hands — your skills, your passions, your story.

Take a moment this week to pause and thank Him for how He’s made you. Write down a few things that make you come alive, and ask:
“How might God want to use these gifts to bless others?”

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
— Ephesians 2:10

You’re already equipped, friend. You don’t need to wait for permission to start. Just bring your gifts — and let God do the rest.
